Founded by Helder Pimentel and Maggie Foley, Backlash has been brewing in other breweries across New England for years now. Since 2011, they have been developing valuable experience and skill. Finally, the grand opening of their very own brewery took place in the fall of 2018. Their charming venue is located on 152 Hampden Street in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, MA.
Backlash Beer Co. is known for its juicy New England IPAs and seasonal stouts. All In is a great example of how they do their IPAs and a favorite among Backlash fans. All In is a double IPA that is teeming with flavorful citrus and tropical fruit notes, weighing in at a hearty 8.3% ABV.
But Backlash is no one trick pony. In addition to their lovely IPAs, they also brew a mean stout. Death will strike you down with chocolate and coffee. Follow that up with a molasses stout named after Great Molasses Flood that transpired in the North End of Boston over 100 years ago in 1919. The smoky Great Molasses Disaster will flood your mouth with a complex whirlwind of roasted barley and chocolate notes.
You can try these beers and more at their taproom. This spacious venue was established in an old piano factory! Sink your teeth into a snack from the bar or from one of their food trucks outside to complement your brew, or you can feel free to bring your own food or order delivery if you have a hankering for something else!
Interested in a little entertainment with your brew? Backlash has a sizable T.V. for you to stay up to date on the playoffs, as well as games! And lots of them! Enjoy a little cornhole, shuffleboard, pinball, or even some video games.
While we don’t currently offer Backlash as a stop on our tours, checking them out while you’re in the Boston area is an option we’d highly recommend!
