Featured Brewery Of The Month: Laurelwood Brew Pub

WHY WE LOVE LAURELWOOD BREW PUB

Laurelwood Brewery and Public House was opened in 2001 in Portland by Mike De Kalb and his wife Cathy Woo-De Kalb. It’s said on their website that they wanted to create an environment that felt like you were at a party at their house. And that is exactly the type of space they’ve created! When our founder moved to Portland 13 years ago, Laurelwood was her first job and how she started building connections within the industry.

Here are the top reasons why we LOVE Laurelwood and why you should head there right away:

1. FAMILY FRIENDLY

Laurelwood was actually featured on our blog post “The Best Portland Breweries to Take your Kid to and Why” for good reason! Between the play area, the awesome kid’s menu (chicken and waffles!?), the relaxed casual atmosphere, and the space for a large group, it’s the perfect place for a large family dinner. And the staff make you feel like family too!

2. UH-MAZING FOOD!

If I could eat a Laurelwood burger every day of my life I would. Plus the beer-battered fries are so crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside you won’t be able to stop yourself from asking for more. They also have awesome gluten-free and vegan options, something for everybody!

3. AXE THROWING

I’m not sure when axe throwing became the latest and greatest thing to do, but I’m not complaining about it! At Laurelwood’s NE Sandy location you can test your axe throwing skills while knocking back a cold one. Sounds like a perfect date night to me!

4. FAMILY OWNED

Part of BREWVANA’s mission is to support local craft creators and Portland founded businesses. One of the reasons why we love Laurelwood is the amazing people behind the company, Mike and Cathy embody the spirit of the brewpub and have really paved the way for family-friendly breweries in Portland. Thanks Mike, Cathy, and the Laurelwood crew!

Head over to Laurelwood’s website to learn more, and don’t forget to stop by for Burger and Beer Wednesday’s for only $10, yum!
