September Employee of the Month: Kalimah Mustafa

We’re breaking out of our usual Guide of the Month in September, and doing our very first Employee of the Month instead! Introducing Kalimah, who is part of our Customer Service team! Here’s a quick glimpse of stouts with Poe to beetle furniture!

How long have you worked for City Brew Tours?

It’ll be a year in October!

How long have you lived in the Boston area? What is it about the city that you love?

I was born and raised in the Greater Boston area, so aside from a few brief wanderings, I’ve basically lived in Boston my whole life. Just about every corner of this city holds a memory for me; I’ll never love anywhere as much as I love Boston because, not only is it my home, but a city with so much character, history, amazing people, and a skyline that just never gets old.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

There are so many parts of my job that I love, but the two best parts I would have to say are 1) the people I work with. I’ve been really lucky to be part of a company filled with such intelligent, kind, and sincere people. And 2) it’s given me the opportunity to learn SO much. Almost every day I learn something new about the process, the history, etc. so it really lends itself well to the geeky side of my love for beer.

What do you love about beer?

I love the incredible diversity. It’s really astonishing how many different flavors, colors, and textures you can create just through this one medium. There is such a fascinating historical background surrounding beer as well, and plus, beer is super tasty!

If you could have a beer with anybody in history, who? What would the beer be?

It would be Edgar Allan Poe without a question. I’d have to reach for something dark and mysterious of course, so I’d use the opportunity to try a new stout or porter that I never heard of!

It’s your day off, what are you doing?

Building furniture out of cardboard for my pet beetles.

What is your current favorite beer? Beer-drinking activity?

I’ve been really into drinking Sea Quench Ales by the pool with my friends this summer.

What beer is in your fridge/cellar right now?

Just picked up a few Mocha Joe’s that I’m looking forward to trying out!

What are you binge watching right now? What was the last book you read? Both?

I’ve been catching up on some bell hooks, and have been not so much reading as having small heart attacks over the pure genius of the Snotgirl comics.
