Beer Guide


We’re seeking charismatic, entertaining, and responsible Beer Guides to lead our educational, all-inclusive craft beer experiences! Beer Guides bring our guests on a journey through some of the best local craft breweries, teaching them all about the history and science of beer from grain to glass. If you love beer, meeting new people, and leading unforgettable experiences, this is the perfect job for you.


Beer Guides can work a variety of shifts that range from 2-6+ hours — the hours are flexible and we’ll work with your schedule! Current guides across all of our cities average anywhere from 4 to 14 hours per week.

We are seeking a driven, goal-oriented, self starter to manage multiple regional markets for City Brew Tours. As Tour Operations Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning all aspects of upcoming tours in your assigned cities, including confirming itineraries, hiring charter vehicles, and ordering catering. You will supervise a team of part-time Beer Guides in each city, hiring and training new guides and evaluating existing guides. You will foster personal relationships between City Brew Tours and the featured brewery affiliates in your cities. Tour Operations Coordinators report to the Chief Experience Officer and must live in and work from the Boston, MA or Washington, DC area. 


This position might be for you if:

You are detail-oriented and organized. You love craft beer and the industry surrounding the craft explosion. You thrive in a leadership role and can manage people effectively, providing training, coaching, and support. Traveling to an assigned city at least once per month excites you. You’re as comfortable talking to someone one-on-one as you are speaking to a group of 50. You don’t have an issue speaking up if you have found a better way to do something or you want to pursue a new opportunity. You like the flexibility of working from home, at a brewery, or on the road. You enjoy the security of a steady job, but don’t like or want the rigidity of a 9-5. 


Responsibilities of the Tour Operations Coordinator focus on two main areas:

Tour Planning & Coordination

  • Work with private event clients to curate experiences, tracking client relations in a CRM
  • Plan itineraries, optimize tour times, and confirm stop reservations for tours and events in each assigned city 
  • Foster relationships with breweries and vendors, onboarding new affiliates as needed
  • Reserve and allocate all transportation for upcoming tours and events in each city, as well as catering and/or Banquet Event Orders when necessary
  • Manage authorized users and spending limits for credit cards in assigned cities
  • Monitor maintenance records for fleet vehicles, scheduling and coordinating routine maintenance and repairs
  • Provide tours as the lead Beer Guide in each assigned city when necessary
  • Ad hoc projects as directed by the Chief Experience Officer

Managing Beer Guides

  • Coordinate and publish monthly schedules for part-time Beer Guides in each city, accounting for time off requests and conflicts
  • Collaborate with the Personnel team to ensure staffing meets the needs of each city
  • Interview, onboard, and train new Beer Guides
  • Verify, record, correct, and follow up on submitted reports from guides, including tour timecards, vehicle safety checks, incident reports, etc.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in meeting planning, creating detailed agendas and itineraries
  • Strong networking, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Creative and resourceful problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to engage and effectively manage large groups 
  • Comfortable driving a 15-passenger van through assigned cities
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record (no DUIs)

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality, or related field
  • Prior experience in the hospitality, brewing, or tourism industries
  • Working knowledge of brewery operations and your city’s local craft beer scene
  • Prior experience leading tours or working as a tour guide
  • Background in hiring, managing, and/or training new employees
  • Experience creating and maintaining relationships with affiliates or vendors


  • $40,000 Base Salary + Gratuities + Commission
  • Combined compensation $45,000 – $70,000

Travel Required: 15-30%


Location: Boston, MA or Washington, DC area


Physical Requirements: You will be required to safely operate a motor vehicle. This includes the ability to sit for durations of up to 60 minutes at a time while driving. You may also need to sit for longer durations and look at a computer screen while working in your home office. You will be required to stand and walk for durations of at least 45 minutes at each tour stop and you will also need the mobility to pour beer from pitchers to glasses at various locations.
