Nestled in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn is the family-owned Strong Rope Brewery. Strong Rope is a licensed New York State Farm Brewery, which means whether you are drinking a classic, time-tested, style or the latest crazy rotating seasonal, some part of that beer comes from and supports a farm in New York State. Owner Jason Sahler is focused on creating a community space which supports local small businesses and farms and has the ultimate focus on sustainability – as a graduate of the sustainable design and development program at NYU we’d expect nothing less. Each beer in the Falling Squirrel series is a SMaSH (single malt and single hop) ale using only NY ingredients so you can experience the effect of each ingredient one by one. Once you’re feeling more adventurous dive into the Drunken Sahler series for Jason’s heavy-hitters. Get on a tour to discover where the Strong Rope name comes from, and what the funny-looking carrot in their logo is all about.
