In 1985, the McMenamins created the first post-Prohibition brewpub in Oregon: the Hillsdale Brewery & Public House. That same year McMenamins became the first brewery in the USA to legally use fruit in the brewing of ale (raspberries, for Ruby Ale, one of their standard ales). Today, McMenamins operates 25 breweries, produced more than 68,000 batches since its inception. Due to the nature of handcrafting, it’s safe to say that no two McMenamins batches are identical. Science and technology provide the backbone for their craft, but it is the unique qualities of each brewhouse, and the individual brewer’s ale-crafting style, which ensures you will enjoy liquid refreshments that are truly special and made with every care for the environment.
